toast: u had me at "avocado".

A-vo-ca-do Toast

Love story with avocado... must say, I foresee it's forever. 🍞💖🥑

  • good-looking green,
  • rich in vitamin E, (and other alphabets)
  • good fats (excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acids, good for the 💚),
  • good taste!

So, I saw this on my YouTube feed last time. From the whole list of versions of avocado toast, this one looked the easiest to do.  And, of course, I zeroed in to it! Ding!

As per the video, they call this the Kylie Jenner toast; not sure she's the 1st one to create this combo, but still shared that bit with my girls, as anything 'Kardashian'-ish seemed something they hear pretty often as Gen-Z & Gen-Alpha (must stay tuned to their times, yah).

This one's really easy to whip. With only a few staple ingredients it sure packed a whole lot of goodness! A must try - get ready for some tummy lovin' the next time this fruit is in season.

🥑 Steps
Avocado, mash (roughly or finely, depends on the mood for the day).
Lemon, little squeeze.
Honey, drizzle.
Salt, pinch.
Bread, toasted in butter.

Spread that avocado goodness on the warm toasted bread.
Add more lemon/honey/salt, to taste.
Pair with some chips and other fruits.
Enjoy!

Here's our nth take!

mmm mmm mmm... dollop more of caramelly honey to that green-topped golden toast.

But how to choose a good avocado? This one, gotta say, i'm still a noob.
And how to know it's ready-ripe for any dish? The struggle is really REAL, for sure! Haven't mastered it just yet, but here's a couple useful tricks...

  • dark green, almost black skin,
  • firm not mushy when gently squeezed at the bottom, bulbous end.

Well, let's keep learning as it's a great way to stay young!

Creamy Miso 🥣

I hated miso soup. And then I loved it ever since. This comfort soup may have a slight tangy taste depending on what type of miso is used. My hubby does not like a hint of sour/tangy stuff. To discover that milk could be added to spin off the taste was a welcome revelation!!! The aroma and taste always takes me back to my days in Japan. My very 1st sip of miso soup was at the canteen of an all-ladies dorm during my very 1st work trip in beautiful Tamagawa prefecture. It was my 1st time away from my motherland, and 1st time to experience winter, at that. To say that I was in a state of culture shock is an understatement. I loved soft fluffy Japanese rice. The roasted flaky saba fish. Ramen noodles. Crunchy karaage. Not miso soup though. I hated miso soup. But that fateful cold night, I have just reached "home" from the 10-minutes trudge from work. A quick change to warmer clothes, I was immediately at the dinner table. The warm soup felt grudgingly comforting. The next spoonf...
